The New Year is a good starting point for a new chapter in our life.
Well… most people like to think that way and I totally agree with that.
All those New Year’s resolutions and other things are great, but the problem is that most of those resolutions and plans disappear a few days after they were made.

We break our promises because of different circumstances:
lack of time and motivation or maybe we just don’t want to do it anymore.

We make our plans when we are in the right environment, which promotes our desire to become better. But when it comes to implementing our plans, we leave the thinking environment and move into the working environment, and many different obstacles in it lower our faith in the work, motivation disappears and we finally decide to stop doing it.

In this article, I would like to share my thoughts on motivation and why we should stop relying on it.

Motivation is not enough. Why?

Motivation is often seen as the key to achieving our goals and completing tasks. It’s the spark that ignites the fire within us to start working on something new and exciting. But, as many of us have experienced, motivation can be fickle and unreliable. It comes and goes, and when it’s gone, we’re left feeling unmotivated and unproductive.

The problem with relying on motivation is that it’s not a sustainable source of productivity. While it may give us a temporary boost of energy and drive, it’s not enough to carry us through the long term.
We’ve all been there — starting a new project with enthusiasm, only to lose steam a few days later.

This is where discipline comes in.

Discipline is our best friend

Motivation is like nitro in a car. It gives us a quick boost of energy to start a task, but it doesn’t have the power to sustain us for the long haul. Discipline, on the other hand, is like the fuel in a car. It may not give us the initial push, but it is what keeps us going mile after mile.

Discipline is the consistent and persistent effort we put into achieving our goals, regardless of whether we feel motivated or not. It’s the ability to push through the tough times and keep working towards our goals, even when we don’t feel like it. Unlike motivation, discipline is something we can control and rely on, making it a much more effective tool for achieving our goals.

Starting something in a new year, next month, next Monday, etc is easy, but continuing with that is where the challenge lies.

Walk your way even if you can see it anymore

Another reason why motivation can be unreliable is that it often comes from external factors, such as a deadline or the pressure of others.
But, when those external factors disappear, so does our motivation.

Discipline, on the other hand, comes from within and is not dependent on external factors. By developing discipline and consistency, we can create a sense of internal motivation that is not reliant on external factors.

So, if you want to achieve your goals and be productive, stop relying on motivation. Instead, focus on developing discipline and consistency in your work.

Make a plan of action and stick to it, even when you don’t feel motivated. This is the key to achieving your goals and becoming truly successful.

Take the best from both worlds

It’s worth noting that discipline and motivation are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they often go hand in hand.

As we consistently work towards our goals, we start to see progress and our motivation naturally increases.

But, it’s important to remember that discipline is the foundation upon which motivation is built.

Conclusion

I hope this article will help you change the way you think about motivation, increase your thirst for developing discipline, and that your next life-changing plans will not be on Monday 😉

Remember there is no better time than now!

See you! ✌️
